Bicolor Scottish Folds are so beautiful!

Содержание

I have already mentioned in one of the articles that the colors of Scottish Folds are diverse. This gives us, the breeders, the opportunity to choose a breeding program according to personal preferences in colors, and, as for owners, they have a huge choice. On the flip side, this advantage turns into a difficulty as many questions arise on how to get a pure color, how to limit yourself to different options if you like several? It turns out to be a problem also for Scottish Fold lovers as they are perplexed by the color of their future pets. For example, one family member likes white colors, another one prefers striped ones.

That is why our cattery named Color Richness specializes in different areas including gold, silver, color-point, and an unusually elegant combination with white colors.

Why do they have such an interesting name? Bicolor cats (two-color, one of which is necessarily white) are the animals with combinations where there is white spotting (gene S) in different quantities and some other (it can be not only plain, but also tortoiseshell, patterned, and color-pointed). I hope I didn't confuse you. And now let me go into specifics.

If you see a completely white cat in front of you, then this is not bicolor. It's a white color and is denoted by the letter W (and there are also such cats in the Scottish Fold breed).

But if you met a snow-white cat, and only the cap of the head and the tail are black, then you saw the Van pattern standing for the elite of Scottish Folds. They feel beyond comparison at exhibitions. These cats look very solemn and unusual.

Beautiful Harlequin patterned cats come next in terms of the number of colored spots on the body. They also look very elegant and attractive.

The usual Bicolor has even more color, ½ to 2/3 of the entire body is occupied by a surface painted in blue, purple, black. And there are Scottish Folds with residual white spotting, when the shirt-front, gloves on the paws, etc. can be of white color.

The general rule for this group is that the colored areas should be clearly defined, and not spread over the body. A two-tone Scottish Fold with an absolutely symmetrical arrangement of colored areas looks very impressive. Buying a thoroughbred kitten with such a symmetrical pattern is quite difficult, such kittens are always rare.

Why is this particular combination so beautiful?

It is really very beautiful. First, the snow-white color is always associated with the holiday; second, in such cases, there is always a place for variability; and third, it is always a surprise, it is impossible to predict exactly how the spots will be distributed on bodies of kittens. This is the pattern of complete mysteries. These difficulties and expectations of the result have always been the driving force of the selection work of breeders. We are not the exception.

I was looking forward to having such a cat in the cattery, and the first one was Dafna. This beauty has a very complex set: black golden spotted bicolor (ny 03 24), she combines gold, bicolor, and pattern (spot). The combination of the pattern with the huge green eyes looks incredibly attractive. As a result, our cattery has a program based on gene S.

This program is going to be evolved, and I believe our pets to do their best at exhibitions. There is still a lot of work to be done because there is no chance to predict the color representation and its distribution. Nevertheless, I am sure that the kittens will have excellent types, silky coats, and expressive eyes in combination with white chests and paws. In general, if you decide to buy Scottish Fold kittens, I recommend paying attention to these unusual animals.
